The Prophecy of Christmas: Prophecy Fulfilled by the Birth of Jesus

The Prophecy of Christmas

Understanding the Incarnation Through the Eyes of Prophecy, Theology, and Purpose

What if the Christmas story is bigger than we’ve imagined—not just a quaint manger scene, but a divine drama stretching across centuries, kingdoms, covenants, and cosmic conflict?

In The Prophecy of Christmas, we rediscover the Christmas story in three sweeping movements—Prophecy, Theology, and Purpose. Each session explores not only the historical reality of Jesus’ birth but the eternal glory behind it: the whispered promises in Eden, the war in heaven, and the wonder of a God who stepped into time to redeem His creation.

This isn’t just a seasonal celebration. It’s a journey through the corridors of biblical prophecy, a meditation on the incarnation of Christ, and a proclamation of the gospel’s cosmic purpose.

Whether you’re a new believer or a seasoned disciple, this study invites you to see Christmas with fresh eyes—rooted in Scripture, rich in doctrine, and alive with the hope of Christ.

Series Overview

This 3-part teaching series was originally presented as a Sunday Night Bible Study and is now available as a digital discipleship resource for personal study, small group use, or seasonal church teaching. Each session is packed with Scripture, anchored in biblical theology, and presented with a heart for both clarity and worship.

Session 1: The Prophecy of Christmas

This session traces a “highway of prophecy” from Genesis to Bethlehem. We explore the Old Testament promises pointing to the coming Messiah—from the seed of the woman (Gen. 3:15) to the line of David, the town of Bethlehem, and the virgin birth. Each prophecy fulfilled reminds us that God’s Word is sure, His promises are true, and Christmas is no accident—it’s the apex of divine planning.

Session 2: The Theology of Christmas

Before the baby was born in a manger, He existed as the eternal Son. This session unpacks Philippians 2:5–11 and Revelation 12 to reveal the theology behind the incarnation. We walk through Christ’s fivefold descent—from sovereign glory to humble servanthood—and glimpse the unseen battle behind Bethlehem. Christmas was never cute—it was cosmic.

Session 3: The Purpose of Christmas

The final session moves from theology to doxology. We answer three big questions: Why did Jesus come? What did His birth accomplish? And how should we respond? Through Scripture and story, we see how the incarnation corrects misconceptions about God, displays His love, and opens the door for reconciliation. Christmas is not just the beginning of a story—it’s the turning point of redemptive history.

Galatians 4:4–5

Theological Foundations:

  • Christ-centered prophecy (Isaiah, Micah, Genesis)
  • Incarnation theology (Philippians 2, John 1, Revelation 12)
  • Soteriology and reconciliation (John 3:16, Galatians 4:4–5, Romans 5)

Rooted in a dispensational, pre-tribulational, and Calvinistic framework, the series elevates the authority of Scripture and the supremacy of Christ while remaining accessible for everyday believers.

Start the Journey

This Christmas, don’t just decorate the tree—open your Bible and behold the plan of redemption unfolding through history. Trace the ancient promises, worship the incarnate Christ, and remember: The manger was always meant to point to the cross.

“The Son of God appeared for this purpose, to destroy the works of the devil.” —1 John 3:8
