What happened after Acts; at the end of the book, we leave Luke in Rome with Paul, but what happens next?! What about the author Luke? And how about Peter … he dropped out of the picture at the halfway mark, not to be heard from again … What gives?!
Who was Luke before he met Paul? This session unpacks Luke’s likely origins in Cyrene, his possible training at the medical academy, and his mysterious biblical identity—possibly as Lucius of Cyrene. It examines whether Luke was a Jew, Gentile, God-fearer, or proselyte. We also consider his background as a physician, his intellectual environment, and his likely education in the Greco-Roman world.
