Systematic Theology: An Introduction to Biblical Doctrine

by Wayne Grudem

Chapter 4 — The Authority of Scripture: Is every word of the Bible really God’s Word? This chapter unpacks the authority of Scripture: the truth that all Scripture carries God’s very authority. To disbelieve or disobey Scripture is to disbelieve or disobey God Himself. We explore how Scripture claims this authority, how the Holy Spirit confirms it in our hearts, and why the Bible is self-attesting as the ultimate standard of truth. This chapter also addresses objections and reminds us why God’s authoritative Word must govern our beliefs, our ethics, and our lives.
